22/23 Season Starts MONDAY!

Hello Marching Band Families!

The 2022-23 marching band season is only a few days away! Welcome to all new and returning students and families as we embark on another incredible year of marching band!

Pre-camp will be held Monday, July 25th through Thursday, July 28th from 6:30 pm – 10:00 pm. Be sure to e-mail the president as soon as possible if your student will be unable to attend precamp.

Band camp is an important, intense, and fun time for the marching band. During this week, students learn the music and maneuvers of the field show, experience the discipline required of a first-rate organization, and build lasting relationships. Band Camp will be held in Rocky Mount, NC at Wesleyan College from Sunday, July 31st through Friday, August 5th. Please plan to attend our Parent Pre-Camp Meeting on Tuesday July 26th at 6:45pm. We will provide information about Band Camp and answer any questions or concerns that you may have. Immediately following this meeting, please join us in the cafeteria for our annual Booster Fair, where you can find out all about our Band Booster/Parent organization and how to get involved with this wonderful band family.

Every camper will be assigned to a single room. Because the male & female residence halls contain suites, students will be sharing suites in groups of 5-6 people with a couple of chaperones on each floor.

PRE-CAMP WEEK CHECKLIST

_____ Attend Pre-Camp Parent Meeting – Tuesday, July 26th at 6:45 p.m. See above for details

_____ Payments – Please make sure your band account is current as of July 25th. Treasurer will be present at parent meeting to collect any payments.

_____ Reusable Water Bottle (labeled with student’s name) – bring to ALL band practices and camp

_____ Donations: Towels, sunscreen, bug spray. We need lots of these items for camp and will have a bin set up near the doors of the band room next week to collect. Thanks!

2022 CAMP CHAPERONES

We have a great list of people taking care of our kids at band camp ( please look at the newsletter). We appreciate all of these volunteers for their dedication to making band camp possible and a great success!

OPEN BOOSTER POSITIONS

If you are looking for a way to get involved with the band, we are in need of chairs/co-chairs and trainees for the following booster committees. Even if you’re new to the band, don’t be afraid to jump in! Nervous about jumping in? Grab a friend, or make a new one! The more involved you are, the more fun you’ll have!

FUNDRAISERS that need YOU and that help fund your account!

Email our fundraising team to help on a committee

Deweys Holiday Store – Join the Dew Crew – Assist in set up and operations of our holiday stores in Waverly Place and (possibly) Cameron Village
State Fair Parking – The band offers management of employee parking lots and sale of open spaces for Gregory Poole in late October
Fruit & Nut – Assist with our annual fall sale and support the current chair
BBQ – Support the current chair with planning and presales
Let’s Eat! – Assist in coordinating with local restaurants for fundraiser nights out
NCFC (Formerly the Carolina RailHawks)- Coordinate with venue and communicate events to band community
PNC Arena – Coordinate with venue and communicate available shifts to band community
Spirit Wear – Develop new designs, coordinate production, and promote sales of band related merchandise
Sponsorship Team – Solicit area businesses for support through our sponsor program
COMMUNICATIONS TEAM

Email our communications team to help on a committee

Website – Assist with design and maintenance of the band web page
Email – Assist in distributing band announcements through our email system, iContact!
Band Directory – Help to compile our internal band member directory
Band Yearbook – Work on design and layout of this special photo book documenting ADMHS band each year
SmugMug – chronicle the band’s adventures by capturing photo and/or video

OPERATIONS & PROGRAM SUPPORT

Pit Crew – field set-up, assist in loading and unloading our band equipment for games and competitions – email our operations team to help
Uniforms – manage uniform inventory, fittings, repair and upkeep – email our uniform committee to help
Year End Senior Video – Compile video for the seniors with highlights throughout the year – email our senior video committee to help
Grants – Searching for and applying for grants that enhance our program – email us at president to help
