April 3, 2019
Dear Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble member,
On Sunday, April 28th, our ensembles will be performing for the 7th annual Cary Music & Arts Festival held at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre. It is exciting to be performing at such a beautiful venue with our friends from neighboring schools in a non-competitive event. The Festival begins at 3:00pm with our Athens Drive Chorus and will conclude with our Wind Ensemble at 8:30pm.
Unlike our other events, we are asking all of our students to arrive on their own, preferably 30 minutes before the performance. The Jazz Ensemble will be wearing our uniform blue shirt/black pants attire. I have asked the Wind Ensemble to wear “nice Sunday clothing/business casual” as a break from the more formal attire. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and grant us a beautiful afternoon/evening!
We will be following the schedule below:
6:00pm Jazz Ensemble arrives at Koka Booth
6:30pm Jazz Ensemble Performance
8:00pm Wind Ensemble arrives at Koka Booth
8:30pm Wind Ensemble Performance
We’ll talk with the students the week of the event about what equipment to bring. All students should report to the back area of the Amphitheatre where we will have parent chaperones to guide the students on where to place cases and congregate.
Our hope is to make this an enjoyable, non-stressful performance in a relaxed environment. We also hope that this can be an event which will grow in number of participants and size of audience. So, bring your dinner, lawn chair/blanket and a friend! And here’s the best news: This is a FREE event!
Hope to see you at this beautiful venue!
“Doc”
