This Sunday, May 20th, our ensembles will be performing for the 6th annual Cary Music & Arts Festival held at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre. It is exciting to be performing at such a beautiful venue with our friends from neighboring schools in a non-competitive event. The Festival begins at 3:00pm with the Green Hope Jazz Band “B” and will conclude with our Wind Ensemble at 8:30pm. Ensembles from Cardinal Gibbons, Longleaf School of the Arts, Panther Creek, Cary, and Enloe will also be performing (see bottom of letter).
Unlike our other events, we are asking all of our students to arrive on their own, preferably 30 minutes before the performance. We will be wearing our uniform blue shirt/black pants for the Jazz Ensemble. I have asked the Wind Ensemble to wear “nice Sunday clothing” as a break from the more formal attire. Jazz Ensemble members can just remain in their blue/black attire.
We will be following the schedule below:
6:30pm Jazz Ensemble arrives at Koka Booth
7:00pm Jazz Ensemble Performance
8:00pm Wind Ensemble arrives at Koka Booth
8:30pm Wind Ensemble Performance
We’ll talk with the students this week about what equipment to bring. All students should report to the back area of Koka Booth where we will have parents guide the students on where they can place instrument cases.
Our hope is to make this an enjoyable, non-stressful performance in a relaxed environment. We also hope that this can be an event that will grow in number of participants and size of audience. So, bring your dinner, lawn chair/blanket, and a friend! And here’s the best news: This is a FREE event!!!!!!
Hope to see you on Sunday!
