Football Game 9/17 Logistics & Important Dates

Last week was SO FUN! Now let’s do it again!

Lots of information to share with you…please read the ENTIRE LETTER!

The purpose of this letter is to provide information concerning our SECOND HOME FOOTBALL GAME this Friday, our “MINI-CAMP 9-9” this Saturday, a RESCHEDULED HOME FOOTBALL GAME NEXT THURSDAY, another after-school rehearsal next Friday and our FIRST COMPETITION SHOW NEXT SATURDAY.



Friday, September 17, 2021

5:30 pm: *Report to ADHS band room

5:45 pm: Warm-up in front (junior) parking area

6:15 pm: Walk to staging area

6:30 pm: March to stadium

6:45 pm: Pregame

7:00 pm: Game begins

7:50 pm: Halftime performance

9:45 pm: Dismissal (at flagpole near gym entrance)

*Percussion and tuba captain(s) must arrange to have their instrument stands placed in the bleachers before the reporting time. This can be done immediately after school or before the 5:30pm report time.

Students are to wear their BLUE SHOW TEE SHIRT, shorts, socks and tennis shoes. They must also bring a BACKPACK to carry a water bottle, flip folder with pep band music, lyre, extra mask, and snack if they do not wish to purchase any from our concessions. Our concession stand will be open during the 3rd quarter where the students may purchase drinks/snacks following their performance.


Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021

8:45 am: Report to band room to get instrument, drill folder, markers, etc.

9:00 am: Rehearsal at practice field

12:00 pm: Lunch (on own)

1:30 pm: Rehearsal at practice field

4:30 pm: Dinner (on own)

6:00 pm: Rehearsal in STADIUM

9:00 pm: Dismissal (at stadium)

Students may eat on campus or leave campus for LUNCH/DINNER. Although there should be sufficient time to “eat out,” please think ahead as to where you might like to dine so that you have enough time to drive safely and eat a decent meal. There is really no problem with hanging out in the band room!

Be sure to have your UNIFORM at school on Saturday as we will be checking the fit for each student. We will be performing in full dress for the football game next Thursday and our first competition on Saturday.

WE ARE INVITING ALL FAMILIES AND FRIENDS TO WATCH THE LAST 90 MINUTES OF OUR EVENING REHEARSAL ON SATURDAY IN THE STADIUM (7:30-9pm)! We will perform our entire show just like we are going to do in the competition! Please consider coming!


Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 7:00pm

That’s right… Our Athletic Department has scheduled our varsity football team to play Jordan H.S. on Thursday evening, Sept. 23 to “make up” for the game that was canceled against Cary on Sept. 3rd. **Note this is corrected from the original date of the 24th.

As a result, we will NOT rehearse on Thursday, September 23; instead, we will perform at the game. This is a very cool opportunity as it allows us to PERFORM THE ENTIRE SHOW IN FULL UNIFORM before our first competition! How advantageous! The reporting time will be 5:00 pm; all other times will remain the same. It is anticipated that the students will be finished with the evening activity by 10:00 pm.

I realize that this is a school night; however, it is exceptional, and the experience will really help us in our future performances. If you are seriously concerned about having your child(ren) at school that late, you can always leave after the halftime performance (@8:30pm). You will need to be present at the game so that I can see you leave with your child.

Because we are losing the Thursday rehearsal on the 23rd, I am asking that we rehearse as a full band on Friday the 24th from 3-5pm for the following reasons: 1) We can “fix/improve” anything that did not work or was weak Thursday evening; 2) It gives us more reps so that the students continue to build confidence for Saturday’s competition.

Of course, if you have something on this date that was already in place and cannot be changed, please let me know ASAP. I will work with you!


Saturday, September 25, 2021

We will be performing at West Craven High School at 6:45 pm. We will have a rehearsal at Athens from 10:45 am-12:15 pm, followed by dressing/loading. We plan to depart Athens at 2:00 pm. Upon arrival at WCHS (at 4:30 pm), we will feed the students a simple, nourishing meal and prepare for our performance. After the performance, the students will change out of uniform and will return to the stadium to watch the remaining bands. We plan to depart at 9:30 pm and arrive back at Athens at midnight. I will send even more detailed info next week!
