GET LIT!!! WE’RE BACK!!!
I am SO EXCITED to start working with all of you next week for our PRE CAMP week! Rehearsals will be at the high school from 6:30 pm-10:00 pm. Please do your best to arrive at least 10 minutes early each day so that you can get a name tag and some materials. We will release promptly at 10:00 pm from our band room. Dress comfortably: shorts, socks, tennis shoes, light-colored top. Bring a water bottle and your instrument/equipment. Most of all, bring a positive attitude and prepare yourself for a positively life-changing experience!
On TUESDAY evening, we are asking our PARENTS TO JOIN US at 6:45 pm for a meeting where we will discuss the nuts and bolts of band camp and the season in general. We are also going to have a “fundraising fair” where you will be able to experience an overview of the ways in which you can raise money for your band account and help our band program. Our boosters do a great job making the evening fun and interactive. Plus, our great principal, Mr. Mares, will be present to cover any questions!
SECTION LEADERS AND CAPTAINS will be meeting with me in the band room each day from 3:00-5:00pm to discuss leadership, teaching and band camp logistics. These are very important meetings where a common philosophy is established, and numerous decisions are made (like WHERE ARE WE GOING FOR COMPETITIONS, AND WHAT MOVIE ARE WE GOING TO WATCH AT BAND CAMP ON THURSDAY EVENING?). Most importantly, I am looking forward to developing a very special relationship with each of you!
Please note that I will plan to be at the school at 1:00pm each day (M-R). Section leaders and captains are welcome to arrive before our leadership meeting to make copies of music for your section and take care of any other business.
