NC Symphony Tickets

Dear Athens Drive students and families,

I am excited to announce the NC Symphony is going to extend the same offer that it has in past weeks to allow our Athens Band students and family members to attend their November 20th concert for only $17 a ticket! The Symphony is playing TCHAIKOVSKY’S “SYMPHONY NO. 6” along with Robert Schumann’s “Symphony No. 4 in D minor. The first word to come to mind concerning these orchestral classics is PASSION! Tchaikovsky’s last symphony was premiered just days before the composer allegedly committed suicide. It contains some of the most beautiful and melancholy music ever written.

Here’s the plan: I must have payment (check made payable to the “Athens Drive Band Boosters” or cash) by MONDAY, NOVEMBER 15TH at 3:00pm. I will then call in the order. No money, no ticket. Sorry, but you cannot charge your band account for these tickets. I will either get the tickets later in the week and give them to the students or I will meet you in the lobby of Meymandi Hall and give you your ticket then.

A few other incentives/details… Attending these concerts will count toward Tri-M Music Honor Society “hours.” Provided that you are with a student, parents, grandparents, siblings, etc. can attend! (For $17 a ticket!) Parking is not expensive (two years ago I was able to park in the “Education Center” lot for $5). The cost for the parking garage across the street is $10. You might consider carpooling to save $. You will need to be dressed “business casual” or nicer… Guys—a nice shirt, pants, shoes; tie is optional… Gals—um, just dress nice. 🙂 NO TENNIS SHOES, FLIP-FLOPS, SHORTS, JEANS OR TEE SHIRTS! Look nice!

Also, be sure that you bring your “Proof of Vaccination” as you must show this (or proof that you have tested negative within 3 days of the concert) before you are permitted to enter the facility.

This will be so awesome! For those of you in Marching Band, we’ll march the Raleigh Christmas Parade in the morning and go to the Symphony in the evening! What a day! Looking forward to enjoying more great music with you!!!
