Parent Pre Camp Meeting and Booster Fair Reminder

Hello Band Families!!

As the students are getting excited thinking about Band Camp, we are hoping to get the parents involved in the fun also! We have two upcoming events for parents, both held on Tuesday July 23rd:

Parent Pre-Camp Meeting – Tuesday July 23rd at 6:45pm.
Band camp is such a rewarding time of fun and growth for the students, but sometimes it can give parents a bit of anxiety. Knowledge is a great tool to help you send your child off to camp with confidence. At our Pre-Camp meeting we will be there to answer any questions or concerns that you may have about camp. You will also be able to meet many of the chaperones attending camp this year. All parents new to marching band are encouraged to make every effort to attend.

Booster Fair – Tuesday July 23rd following the pre-camp meeting,
Please join us in the cafeteria for our annual Booster Fair where you can find out all about our Band Booster/Parent organization and how to get involved with this wonderful band family.

Check out Volunteering Opportunities:
Even if you are new to the band, don’t be afraid to jump in. Volunteering is a great way to make new friends and truly, band parents (and students of course) are the BEST.

There are many open co-chair positions and volunteer opportunities. Please join us at the booster fair on Tuesday to learn more! YOU are needed and we truly appreciate your willingness to give of your time and talents to help the band.

We would like to mention a few urgent needs for the coming year:

1. BBQ Fundraising Event needs 2 co-chairs – This event is an important fundraiser for the band and helps to keep everyone’s fair share costs down. We already have a great BBQ plan in place. The site has been reserved, dads trained to cook the barbecue, and logistics worked out. AND we have some awesome veteran band parents who will help you get started. We need someone with organizational skills to recruit volunteers and implement the plan in October.

2. Yahoo! Mail -We need one more co-chair to complete our Yahoo! mail team. As you may have discovered, the band likes to communicate via email! If you can forward email and do simple proof reading and editing, you can do this job. This is a great job for someone who prefers to work somewhat on their own from home.

3. PR Chair – promotes our band news internally (via Athens Alerts & the phone messaging system) & externally to our community (newspaper, TV, radio etc). You will get to work with many of our committees throughout the year.
