SUMMER PRE-CAMP PREPARATIONS
Hello Marching Band Families! We hope that you are all having a great summer. We are busy making preparations for band camp and regular season activities!
To make sure you are ready, mark your calendars with all the summer rehearsal dates. Important fall dates have also been set. Percussion (ADP) and Color Guard (CG) practices began in June – if you are participating in ADP or CG and not receiving email updates, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. Full marching band practices begin with Pre-Camp starting July 23. All the dates can be found at: http://www.athensdriveband.com/adhs-band-master-calendar.
Please see the checklist below to aid you in your preseason preparations. More detailed information about what to bring to band camp will be sent later in July. Following are items you can go ahead and begin working on to ensure a smooth start to the upcoming season:
PRIOR TO PRE-CAMP
_____ Food Allergies and other Dietary Restrictions – E-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible so that we can properly plan for meals and snacks. In addition, please make sure to note these items on the Medical Form. The cafeteria at Wesleyan College offers a wide variety of foods, easily accommodating most diets. We would be happy to share menus with parents during
pre-camp if there are any specific concerns.
DUE FIRST DAY OF PRE-CAMP (July 23, 2018) – Complete, print, and bring the following paperwork:
_____ WCPSS Parental Consent & Student Medical Information
_____ Student’s health insurance card – Copy front and back and attach to the WCPSS Parental Consent & Medical Information form.
_____ WCPSS Student Photo Permission Form

DURING PRE-CAMP WEEK
_____ Pre-camp Parent Meeting – Tuesday, July 24th at 6:45 p.m. in the band room, followed by the Booster Fair in the cafeteria. At the meeting, we will be going over the final details for camp and answering any questions you might have. Please make every effort to attend! Following the meeting, please join us in the cafeteria to check out our Booster Fair. Our committee chairs will have informational booths set up to help you find the perfect spot to get involved!
_____ Students – Band Camp Roommate Request Form: During pre-camp students will be given a roommate request form. Due to logistical difficulties with moving beds, we can only assign two students per room. We will be happy to assist students with finding roommates during pre-camp week and will work with section leaders to find a great fit for everyone! This form is DUE WEDNESDAY night at the end of the evening.
_____ Donations: Towels, sunscreen, bug spray. While you are cleaning out the closets over the summer, please save your old towels for the band. We need lots of old towels to dry off instruments and other equipment, especially if we have wet weather. Band camp is hot, sunny and buggy! We’d like for everyone to bring their own sunscreen and bug spray, but inevitably we need more! Any donations are very much appreciated!
One last reminder, it’s not too early to earn money for your band account! Meet other band families by working at the NCFC games this summer. Just click on the orange volunteer signup button. There are many opportunities, so see what works for your schedule.
