Dear band member and parent,
Several weeks ago I was contacted by a “bride” who really, really, really wanted a small wind band to play a piece at the opening of her reception. I asked our Wind Ensemble and several students (including seniors) responded favorably. I actually bought the little tune and it will work just fine.
Please see the attached letter for the details. We are talking about being on site for about 45 minutes max in downtown Raleigh. Any donation made to the band will be placed in band accounts for participants (excluding graduating seniors–sorry!). Let me know if you are interested… I need to appoint a student leader who will meet everyone on site.
Thank you!
Doc

RE: A “unique performance” that can help your band account
A few months ago I was contacted by a “bride” who wanted to have a small group of musicians play at the beginning of her wedding reception at the Marriott in downtown Raleigh on Saturday, June 9th from 7:00-7:45pm. [The actually performance will be around 7:30pm.] She chose the song—a little pep tune entitled “All of the Lights”—and kept diligently asking if I can make her dream come true. I told her I would try…
Here’s what I’m asking:
1) 6-8 wind players
2) Dress would be nice…it’s a wedding!
3) We are going to receive some kind of monetary donation to our program for your efforts…so it will fall into the category of “fundraiser.” However, I will consider dividing this money into your band accounts. [Sort of like working a fundraiser where some of the money goes to your account anyway.] This will help compensate your time.
4) It’s really a fairly simple gig… and who knows, maybe they’ll let you EAT there too!
Thank you for your consideration… Another opportunity to make a moment a MASTERPIECE
“Doc”
