Each year, through a partnership with Dewey’s Bakery, the Athens Drive Band operates a seasonal retail storefront featuring some of Dewey’s most popular holiday products—including their well-known Moravian cookies and sugar cake. The store has become a local tradition, with community members returning each year to shop and support the band.
In addition to Dewey’s items, the store features a rotating selection of goods from North Carolina food vendors and local artisans, creating a unique holiday shopping experience. Proceeds from all purchases support the Athens Drive Band program.

A selection of Dewey’s most popular seasonal treats, including their signature Moravian cookies and sugar cake. Families return for these seasonal favorites year after year.
Local Food & Specialty Items
In addition to Dewey’s products, the store features a rotating selection of goods from North Carolina food vendors such as popcorn, chips, honey, pimento cheese, nuts, coffee, tea, and more.
Handmade Gifts & Artisan Goods
A curated collection of handmade items created by local artisans and members of the band community, ranging from ornaments and home decor to jewelry, accessories and other seasonal gifts.

This year we’re running two stores:
- Waverly Place, Cary: 302 Colonades Way, Suite 102 (beside Hand & Stone Massage)
- Village District, Raleigh: 526 Daniels St (beside Rise)
Dates & Hours
Both stores open Tuesday, November 10 and run through Christmas Eve.
- Monday to Saturday: 10am to 6pm
- Sunday: noon to 5pm
- Closed Thanksgiving Day
Get Involved
The Dewey’s Holiday Store is one of our largest program-wide efforts, made possible by the support of our band families and community.
Volunteer at the Store
Band families run both stores all season, and anyone can help: students, parents, family and friends. We have about 150 shifts to fill at each store.
- Monday to Saturday shifts: 9:30am to 3pm, and 3pm to 7pm
- Sunday shifts: 11:30am to 6pm
- Help with sales, customer service, restocking and set-up
Training is required. Every volunteer attends one session, ideally at the store where you’ll work most:
- Saturday, November 7: 1pm or 5pm, Village District
- Sunday, November 8: 2pm or 4pm, Waverly Place
- Monday, November 9: 6:30pm, at either store
