Dear band student and parent,

The most well-known Honor Band in our area is the East-Central District Honor Band which comprises students exclusively from Wake County. In normal times, students would audition for this band in person at a selected site in early January. As these are NOT normal times, it has been decided that our District is going to have interested students submit a recording for their audition; however, the clinic WILL be in-person January 28-29, 2022 at Sanderson High School.

To audition, please complete this FORM and return it to the band office with your $10.00 fee by Monday, Dec. 6 (checks made payable to ADHS Band Boosters).

Visit www.ncbandmasters.org to get information about audition requirements. Under “Districts,” choose East Central; then click “All-District Band;” then click “High School Auditions.” Scroll down the page and you will find the scales and the solo! The only thing you will not find is the “sight-reading piece,” which will be provided to you approximately 2 days before the submission deadline.

The recording process will be similar to last year: Students will submit an uninterrupted video with their scales (memorized), prepared piece, and sight-reading (a piece that they will only have access to for about 2 days prior to the submission date). There will be a very brief window as to when to make the recording (week of January 3-7). Auditionees will receive more information concerning recording formatting, etc. in a few weeks.
