Festival Concert and MPA Performance

Dear band student and parent,

The purpose of this letter is to remind everyone of next week’s Festival Concert and to provide information about our MPA Performances the following week. Please read this entire letter!

Festival Concert

Thursday, March 13, 2025

6:15 pm – All students report to school
Symphonic Band – on stage
Concert Band – in band room
Wind Ensemble – in chorus room or cafeteria
7:00 pm – Concert Begins

Concert Band
Wind Ensemble
The Festival Concert is FREE with refreshments served at their conclusion. Concert attire is the same as worn in previous concerts: all black for Concert Band and tuxes/dresses for Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble.

As always, participating families are asked to bring a dessert/snack to share AND consider assisting with concert support duties. Visit the CONCERT SIGN UP to help!

MPA is an acronym for “Music Performance Assessment” and is equivalent to an EOC (End of Course) test, and even a SAT/ACT. Musical ensembles are evaluated on a set of criteria including tone, rhythmic precision, and musicality and given an overall “rating.” The results of these performances are sent throughout the State and become a part of each school’s “performance record.”

Our Wind Ensemble’s MPA Performance is on Tuesday, March 25 at 3:00pm at Fuquay-Varina High School. We will travel to Fuquay H.S. via activity bus. Students will only miss 4th block class; we anticipate returning to Athens Drive by 5:00pm.

Our Symphonic Band/Concert Band MPA Performance is on Thursday, March 27 at 2:45pm at Fuquay-Varina High School. We will travel to Fuquay H.S. via activity bus. Symphonic Band students will only miss 4th block class; Concert Band students will not miss any class. We anticipate returning to Athens Drive by 4:45pm.

The MPA performances are FREE and open to the public. It would be wonderful if we can get many of our families to attend!! It really sends a powerful message to our adjudicators that this band is SPECIAL!!!

We may need parents to drive some of these students to these events as we will be taking 1 bus only (and our ensembles are just a bit larger than bus capacity). Please drop us an email if you can drive!

Our students have been working very diligently the past several weeks and are excited to share some great music! Hope to see you at one or more of these events!
