Dear Wind Ensemble member and parent,
The purpose of this letter is to finalize the logistics of our adjudicated performance at STATE BAND FESTIVAL (MPA) next Tuesday.
State Band Festival – Wind Ensemble
Tuesday, March 25
- 10:30am Wind Ensemble reports to 3rd block class as usual. We will do a warm-up and music spot-check. We will also collect music folders; percussion will organize equipment for travel.
- 11:30am Early dismissal for lunch
- 12:30pm Students must be back on campus; change into performance attire and load truck/bus.
- 1:00pm Depart Athens Drive
- 1:35pm Arrive Fuquay-Varina H.S.
- 2:25pm Warm up ON STAGE
- 3:00pm PERFORMANCE
- 3:50pm Performance completed (including sight reading). Store all equipment.
- 4:15pm Ratings received and departure
- 5:00pm Arrive Athens Drive. Unload equipment
OTHER DETAILS
As we have plenty of room on the bus to take ALL our students, I would ask that most students ride the bus together. If you NEED to drive, please provide a note from a parent.
Parents/family/friends are encouraged to attend this performance—although I realize it is 30 minutes from Athens. Due to the serious nature of this event—and the fact that the performances are sometimes mid-day–there are often not many people in the audience. This is a shame considering the quality of these performances. Just do what you can, but I sincerely believe that your presence makes a difference—not only to the adjudicators, but to our students as well 😊.
I am so proud of our students for their preparation! They have performed and behaved wonderfully for the many clinicians that we have hosted in past weeks. It has been a great learning experience, and we look forward to topping it off with a rewarding performance on Tuesday
