UNC Music Scholarship Award
04-26-11 Natalie Bader and Erin Lunsford have each been awarded a Music Scholarship to UNC Chapel Hill. Both will be attending UNC Chapel Hill in the fall. Natalie plans to double major in Flute Performance and Global Studies. Erin plans to double major in Music and Comparative Literature. Congratulations to Natalie and Erin on their outstanding achievement!
Kenan Music Scholarship
04-25-11 Ryan Petersburg was one of four students awarded the Kenan Music Scholarship at UNC Chapel Hill. Kenan Music Scholars receive a full scholarship for four years covering tuition, student fees, room and board, plus additional support for summer research and study abroad. Scholars are selected on the basis of an established record of excellence in music, significant academic strengths, and a strong commitment to majoring in Music at UNC-CH. Ryan plans to double major in Music and Physics. Congratulations to Ryan on this outstanding achievement!
All-State Honors Band
03-16-11 Nine ADHS Band students have earned positions in the 2011 All-State Honors Band. To be given an opportunity to compete for All-State selection, a student must first compete for a position in the All-District Honors Band and be selected for a top chair position. Top level students from each All-District Honors Band in the state compete for positions in the All-State Honors Band. Congratulations to the following students on their outstanding All-State performance: Natalie Bader (Flute), Cesar Bernal (Tuba), Sarah Griffin (Alto Saxophone), Peter Jamison (Tenor Saxophone), Rachel Knierim (French Horn), Ben Markoch (Clarinet), Troy O’Neal (Trumpet), Ryan Petersburg (Trumpet), and Mitchell Stokes (Clarinet). Their concert is on Sunday, May 1st, at Aycock Auditorium on the UNCG campus in Greensboro
UNCG Honor Band

Their concert is on Saturday, February 19th, at Aycock Auditorium on the UNCG campus in Greensboro.
NC Eastern Regional Orchestra
01-23-11 Rachel Kneriem, Erin Lunsford and Ryan Petersburg have earned positions in the NC Eastern Regional Orchestra. The NC Eastern Regional Orchestra is one of two orchestras of the NCMEA Orchestra Section. Their concert is Sunday, February 27th at the NC School of Science and Math.
Honor Band of America
01-20-11 Erin Lunsford has been selected to participate in the 2011 Honor Band of America, part of the Music for All National Festival, occurring in Indianapolis March 17-19, 2011. The Honor Band of America concert will be on March 19th at Clowes Memorial Hall, Butler University.

Their concert will be on Saturday, January 29th at Northern Guilford High School Auditorium.
Triangle Youth Symphony
12-07-10 Corinne Crowley, Duc Doan, Heewon Kim and Ally Lazar have earned positions, through audition, to the 2010-2011 Triangle Youth Symphony. The Triangle Youth Symphony is one of six ensembles sponsored by the Philharmonic Association and one of the top two sponsored ensembles. Their Spring Concert will be on May 10, 2011 at Meymandi Concert Hall.
Triangle Youth Philharmonic
11-25-10 Cesar Bernal, Brandon Ellis, Rachel Knierim, Erin Lunsford and Ben Markoch have earned positions in the 2010-2011 Triangle Youth Philharmonic. The Triangle Youth Philharmonic is the most advanced ensemble sponsored by the Philharmonic Association. Their Spring Concert will be on May 8, 2011 at Meymandi Concert Hall.
North Carolina Symphony Young All Stars
11-24-10 Natalie Bader. Erin Lunsford and Ryan Petersburg have earned positions in the North Carolina Symphony Young All Stars chamber orchestra. North Carolina Symphony Young All Stars is an exclusive chamber group of talented young musicians, selected by audition, that will perform in a chamber orchestra led by Maestro Grant Llewellyn. Their Winter Concert will be on January 30th at Meymandi Concert Hall.
Triangle Youth Brass Band
11-23-10 Andrew Kessler, Ryan Petersburg and Samuel Ray earned positions with the 2010-2011 Triangle Brass Band’s Youth Bands. Ryan earned the position of Principal Cornet and Samuel will be playing Percussion with the Triangle Youth Brass Band. Andrew will be playing Tuba with the Triangle Youth Brass Ensemble.
The Triangle Youth Brass Band’s mission is to provide an opportunity for the area’s finest high school brass and percussion players to supplement their wind band experience by performing in a British-style brass band. Their first concert will be February 19, 2011 at Meymandi Concert Hall.
Honor Orchestra of America
11-19-10 Natalie Bader has been selected to participate in the 2011 Honor Orchestra of America, part of the Music for All National Festival, occurring in Indianapolis March 17-19, 2011. The Honor Orchestra of America is performing two shared concerts with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra as part of their Subscription Series.
U.S. Army All-American Marching Band
11-04-10 Michael Norman and Samuel Ray, were each awarded a position in the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band which will perform in San Antonio January 8th, 2011. This elite group of 120 of the finest musicians across the nation will perform at the halftime show of the “U.S. Army All-American Bowl.”
North Carolina Honors Orchestra
11-03-10 Rachel Knierim and Erin Lunsford were selected to participate in the North Carolina Honors Orchestra, which will be performing 11-7-10 at the Stevens Center in Winston-Salem. The Honors Orchestra is comprised of top players from the previous year’s All State Orchestra. Congratulations Rachel and Erin!
