Recent 2016 Graduates (Scholarships & Music Pursuits)
05/2016 Matthew Baker (Tuba) received a $20,000 annual private music scholarship to attend the University of Michigan. He is pursing dual degrees in music performance and public policy.

05/2016 JP Brocker (Tuba & Trombone) is currently attending the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is pursuing a major in Political Science with a minor in Vocal Performance.

Upcoming 2017 Graduates (Scholarships & Music Pursuits)
11/17/2016 Kelley Harrell (Clarinet) has attended the NC Governor’s School East 2016 with a focus in Instrumental Music. She has already received a full music scholarship to attend Greensboro College in 2017. Her major will be Music Therapy with participation in marching and class ensembles.

Triangle Youth J. Perry Watson Brass Band (TYBB)
1/30/2017 Lauren Holtshouser (2nd year Principal Cornet), Kevin Day (Tuba), Tyrone Williams (Trumpet).
Through audition, all three students are members of the top youth brass band of Triangle Brass Band Organizations (there are three youth bands). This organization is composed of students from all over the Triangle area. In addition to performing concerts throughout the Triangle during the school year, the Youth Bands will be competing in the North American Brass Band Championship in FT Wayne Indiana in early March 2017.

Six Athens Drive HS Band students auditioned and were invited to attend the 28th Annual Carolina Band Festival at UNC-Greensboro February 16-18, 2017. Over 300 students statewide submitted applications and recording from a multi-state area. Our students were selected among the best in the state.

Triangle Youth Symphony
5/1/2017 Andrew Uy (9th Grade) played Trombone in the Triangle Youth Symphony (TYS) this year. The Triangle Youth Symphony is an advanced ensemble sponsored by the Philharmonic Association. Their concert date was May 1, 2017 at Maymandi Concert Hall in Raleigh.
